What is an Implant?
An implant recreates the anatomy and function of a natural tooth. It typically features a post which goes into the bone and acts like a root, and a crown (cap) to act as the tooth. Implants can be used to support replacements, like bridges. But an implant can also be used to take the place of a single missing tooth. With implants, teeth next to a space do not have to be trimmed down to hold the fake "fill-in" tooth or teeth. The implant goes in the space and works and lokks like a "new" tooth.

Mini Implants - What can they do for you?
We are now offering a new service with "mini implants" with MDI technology. This procedure is a denture stabilization system. No more need to worry that others are noticing the poor fit of your denture. The MDI system consists of a miniature titanuim alloy implant that acts like the root of your tooth and a retaining fixture that is incorporated into the base of your denture. The head of the implant is shaped like a ball, and the retaining fixture acts like a socket with a rubber O-ring. The O-ring snaps over the ball when the denture is seated and holds the dneture firmly in place. When seated, the denture gently rests on the gum tissue. The implant fixtures allow for micromobility while withstanding natural lifting forces.
Placement of the implants is accomplished quickly and easily in a process performed in the dentist's office, with local anesthesia and the option of IV sedation. Using a precise, controlled, minimally invasive surgical technique, MDI Implants are placed into the jawbone. The heads of the implants protrude from the gum tissue and provide a strong, solid foundation for securing your dentures. Because of the minimally invasive nature of this procedure, MDI placement doesn't require a lenghty healing period, meaning dentures can be stabilized the same day the mini implants are placed.
