Implant-and-denture systems consist of two parts: a titanium implant that acts like the root of a tooth and a retaining fixture that’s incorporated into the base of your denture. Depending on your needs and how you want your dentures to fit, you can pick from several types of implant-supported denture systems:

Removable or Fixed Systems

If you’d like your dentures to stay in place and not have to worry about removing them, we can recommend fixed implant systems which involve screwing your denture onto implants in your jaw. Prefer being able to remove your dentures at the end of the day? Several options are available which keep your denture firmly in place until you decide to remove it.

Bar-Retained or Snap Systems

These systems allow you to snap your denture in and out of place. These methods involve either a titanium bar or snap attachments, your denture can than clip down on to a bar or snaps, keeping your denture firmly in place.

Ball-Retained or O-ring Systems

In this system, the head of each implant is shaped like a ball, and the retaining fixtures on the base of the denture act like sockets with a rubber O-rings. Each O-ring and socket snaps over the ball when the denture is seated, holding the denture firmly in place.

Although inserting implants into your jawbone involves a minimally invasive surgical technique, Dr. Crapo offers both local anesthesia and intravenous (IV) sedation to ensure your comfort. Certain implant placement techniques allow your denture to be attached and stabilized the same day as implants are placed.
